Royal Horticultural Society Garden Rosemoor

RHS Rosemoor – is the showpiece garden of the Royal Horticultural Society in the South West, UK.

Royal Horticultural Society Garden Rosemoor

Set in the Torridge Valley in North Devon, UK and now spread over 65 acres RHS Rosemoor is one of four show gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society, the world’s leading horticultural organisation, which organises Chelsea Flower Show – the world’s most prestigious flower show. Rosemoor was originally owned by Lady Anne Berry who gave its 40 acres to the Society before emigrating to New Zealand in 1988.

Rosemoor caters for all gardeners with a range of formal and informal gardens demonstrating a wide range of planting styles to encourage gardeners of every persuasion. There are two rose gardens with over 200 varieties for modern and shrub roses. The Spiral Garden with its pastel palette and the vibrant Hot Garden are two ever-popular themed gardens, so too are the Herb Garden, Cottage Garden and the Potager.

Three model gardens demonstrate divers design solutions based upon the average suburban plot. An army of enthusiastic volunteers of all ages help maintain the gardens through the seasons.

The highly productive Vegetable garden is a show-stopper in its own right. It is filled with both traditional and experimental ideas and solutions for the self sufficient householder or indeed anyone who is interested in grow your own food.

All the RHS Gardens should be supported because of the window they provide into the amazing world of plants for millions who might not otherwise have the opportunity. RHS Rosemoor not only provides an excellent day out for both gardener and non-gardener alike, it also contains around 10,000 plant varieties, so whether you are a novice or professional, there is always something new to see. What’s even more important to the gardener who spies that unusual plant that catches his eye, is that every plant is well-labelled. So take two shots, one of the plant and one of the label.

Disappointing Plant Sales Area

Don’t be under any illusion that you can spot an unusual plant in the gardens and be able to obtain the same plant in the plant sales area. Unfortunately, as with all RHS gardens, the plant sales area offers little more than what is generally available at any garden centre around the country and at a premium price – you have been warned.

RHS Rosemoor also holds a wedding licence so your special day can be set against the lovely gardens. The Licensed Garden Restaurant, outside seating area and Winter Garden Lawn can also be incorporated to accommodate guests for an evening party.
